These mini French onion soup bites pack all the flavor of the classic soup into a warm, flaky appetizer. They’re great for parties, simple to prepare, and always disappear fast. With caramelized onions, buttery pastry, and melted cheese, every bite feels comforting.
• 3 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
• 3 tablespoons butter
• 1 cup beef broth
• 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
• Salt and pepper
• 1 sheet puff pastry
• 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
Cook sliced onions in butter over medium-low heat for 20–25 minutes until caramelized.
Add broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes and cool.
Heat oven to 375°F. Cut puff pastry into 2-inch squares and place in a mini muffin pan.
Add onion filling and top with cheese.
Bake 15–18 minutes until golden. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
Use Swiss cheese if you don’t have Gruyère. Make the filling ahead for quicker prep.
