Pear & Apple Grilled Cheese With Caramelized Onions

This warm, sweet, and savory grilled cheese blends pears, apples, caramelized onions, and melty cheese on golden toasted bread. It’s a cozy yet easy sandwich perfect for lunch or a simple dinner. The fruit softens as it warms, the onions add deep flavor, and the cheese ties everything together.

Ingredients

• 4 slices bread
• 4 slices havarti or gouda
• 1 pear, sliced thin
• 1 apple, sliced thin
• 1 onion, caramelized
• 2 tbsp butter
• Optional: honey, Dijon mustard, thyme

Instructions

  • Caramelize onions in butter for 12–15 minutes.

  • Slice pear and apple thinly.

  • Layer cheese, fruit, caramelized onions, more cheese, and top with bread.

  • Butter the outside and cook on medium-low for 3–4 minutes per side.

  • Slice and serve warm.

Notes
